Product questions, answered from your live catalog
Updated by the SayMaya team
The short answer
SayMaya answers product questions in your storefront chat from your live Shopify catalog: sizes, materials, what is in stock, prices and active discounts, read at the moment the shopper asks. It quotes only discounts that are active in your store and makes no promises on your behalf. Questions it cannot answer go to your team.
What kinds of product questions can it answer?
The ones your product pages and store settings already answer, asked in the shopper's own words:
- Is the Medium in stock? Which colors are left?
- What is it made of, and how does it fit?
- Which product suits a need, for example a gift under a budget
- What does it cost today, and is there a discount on it?
- What is your shipping and return policy for this item?
Why answer from live data instead of a FAQ?
Because stock and prices change. A FAQ written in spring is wrong by summer, and a site scan is only as fresh as its last run. SayMaya reads your products, inventory, prices, policies and active discounts from Shopify when the question comes in, so the answer matches the shelf today. There is nothing to retrain when you change a price.
How does it avoid inventing discounts?
Guardrails stop the AI from making up codes, deals or commitments. It quotes only discounts that are active in your store, stays on topic when someone tries to trick it, and sends anything it cannot answer to a person. A shopper who asks for a deal you do not offer gets a straight answer, not a made-up code.
Can I control what it reads?
Yes. In Settings, switch each data source on or off: products, inventory, orders, policies and discounts. If you would rather your team quotes discounts personally, turn discounts off and the AI stops mentioning them.
What happens with a question it cannot answer?
When the AI is unsure, or the shopper asks for a person, the chat moves to your team inbox with the whole conversation and your team gets an email. Your teammate sees exactly what was asked and replies in the same chat.
Does it work in other languages?
English today. If many of your shoppers write in other languages, compare apps that list multilingual AI before you choose.
